Definition:
A class of mail that includes all matter wholly or partly in writing or typewriting, all actual and personal correspondence, all bills and statements of account, and all matter sealed or otherwise closed against inspection. Any mailable matter may be sent as First-Class Mail (The Mailroom Companion, May 1996).
Used For:
Letters, Postcards, Postal cards, Greeting Cards, Personal Notes, Checks, Money Orders.
Additional services such as certificates of mailing, certified, registered, COD, and restricted delivery can be purchased at the option of the mailer for First Class Mail. Insurance can also be purchased. However, insured articles mailed at the First-Class rate must contain merchandise.
Note:
If your First-Class Mail is not letter size, make sure to mark it "First-Class" or use a large green diamond bordered envelope.
